Pat Fortune, PhD

Prior to Mass General Brigham, Pat served as Senior General Manager, Portfolio and Commercial Transactions at Cleveland Clinic Innovations. Pat also served as a member of the Clinic’s Innovations Advisory Board for 7 years prior to that. Previously, Dr. Fortune was a venture capitalist and a Partner at Boston Millennia Partners, where he successfully invested in early stage life sciences companies with exits through both sales and IPO’s. Dr. Fortune has more than 35 years of experience in the healthcare, life sciences and information technology sectors. He has been responsible for nurturing start-up activities from idea to prototype to standalone business and operating both large and small businesses throughout his career. He was previously a senior executive at multiple Fortune 500 companies including: President and Chief Operating Officer of New Era of Networks; Vice President at Monsanto; Vice President, at Bristol Myers Squibb; and Group President of Parenteral Products as well VP R&D at Baxter International. Dr. Fortune served on the Board of Directors of Parexel International Corp, a global $2.5 billion Contract Research Organization, and has served on the Boards of a number of other public and private pharmaceutical, medical device and Information Technology companies. He also has extensive experience in M&A from sourcing and financing the company to closing the transaction and successfully integrating and operating the result. He holds a BA and a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from Northwestern University.
