2024 Event SiteTatjana Jakobs got an MD degree from the University of Wuerzburg, Germany, before joining the laboratory of Richard Masland at MGH to study retinal anatomy. Since 2010, she is the PI of a lab at Schepens Eye Research Institute of Mass Eye and Ear. The lab works on glaucoma, in particular on the function of glial cells in the optic nerve and retina in glaucoma. The lab uses a combination of cell imaging, animal models of glaucoma, gene expression profiling, and transgenic techniques to identify glia-derived factors that prevent neurodegeneration in disease and during normal aging.
