David Sontag is co-founder and CEO at Layer Health and a Professor at MIT in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES), and the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL).
Dr. Sontag’s research focuses on large language models, causal inference, and machine learning in healthcare. Dr. Sontag was previously a professor at New York University and a researcher at Microsoft and ASAPP. Dr. Sontag received best paper awards from leading machine learning conferences NeurIPS, EMNLP and UAI, and a NSF Career Award. Dr. Sontag received a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
