David P. Ryan M.D. is the Physician-in Chief, Mass General Brigham Cancer, Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, and Shelby Memorial Professor of Medicine in the field of Cancer Therapeutics.
He graduated in medicine from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, NY in 1992 where he remained for his internship and medical residency. Dr. Ryan undertook his hematology and oncology training at the combined Massachusetts General Hospital/Dana Farber Cancer Institute in 1996 in Boston, MA. The principal focus of Dr. Ryan’s clinical research is the design and implementation of Phases I and II trials in gastrointestinal malignancies. Dr. Ryan is the author of more than 100 per-reviewed manuscripts and a co-author of the book, Living with Cancer: A Step-by-Step Guide to Coping Medically and Emotionally with a Serious Diagnosis. Dr. Ryan was also the leader of a Stand Up to Cancer Dream Team that was focused on testing new and intensive preoperative treatments in pancreatic cancer patients.
He is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Dr. Ryan sits on the editorial board of Clinical Cancer Research.
