Sree Chaguturu, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at CVS Health, joined Mass General Brigham and Bank of America at the 2023 World Medical Innovation Forum for a fireside chat alongside moderators Michael Cherny, Managing Director and Senior Equity Research Analyst of BofA Securities, and Niyum Gandhi the Chief Financial Officer of Mass General Brigham.
In an interview from the WMIF, Chaguturu discussed the core principles driving CVS Health’s transformative approach to reshaping the American healthcare landscape. Its goal is to simultaneously reduce costs, enhance accessibility, and enhance the quality of care.
Chaguturu acknowledged the challenges facing the American healthcare system and highlighted the imperative of unity in addressing them. He believes stakeholders, like those at the Forum, will combine their unique perspectives and capabilities, to improve the fundamental performance of the healthcare system and drive innovation.
Amid the ongoing buzz around artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, Chaguturu offers this perspective: “…it’s not that artificial intelligence itself will replace what we do in a face-to-face relationship, but when we bring these two things together — data and analytics and artificial intelligence alongside human-centered care, we can be better than what we are today.” He notes tremendous opportunity to utilize these technological advancements to bridge the gaps in care quality, accessibility, and exceeding the limitations of the current healthcare landscape.
