Dr. Kohei Hasegawa is the Director of Translational Research Program in the Emergency Medicine Network (EMNet)  — a research collaboration of 245 medical centers around the world — at the MGH Department of Emergency Medicine.  He is additionally Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Faculty of Program in Quantitative Genetics at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Dr. Hasegawa’s work applies multidisciplinary methods — an integration of computational biology, machine learning, and epidemiology  — to the complex interplay between host factors, environmental factors,  healthcare systems, and health outcomes.  For example, he is the PI of multiple NIH-funded projects in asthma and large data analysis projects (e.g., the application of AI to emergency department triage systems, the use of machine learning in causal inference).
